Are you coming to the slumber party?

Posted by Simon

West Edmonton Mall Theme Park, Canada Disney World Breakfast, Orlando Boeing Factory, Seattle

There are many things that suck about being a grown up. None more than, well, growing up. Sometimes we just need to drop the serious attitude and leave responsibility behind. On our North American holidays of yesteryear you’ll find theme parks, cartoons and way-cool toys guaranteed to get you giggling. Mom called to say you can stay for the slumber party - now it’s time to pick the venue and take a trip down memory lane… Read more »

We could tell you a joke, but they’re far funnier with comedy getaways and magical meanderings. Let your funny bone be tickled and your brain be puzzled by A-grade entertainers. Read more »

Renew years resolutions with fun adventure getaways

Posted by Simon

Ziplining at WhistlerKennedy Space CenterHawaii Hiking

Remember that night in late December, where you clinked glasses under dazzling fireworks and made big promises about eating better, spending more time with family and doing something about the festive season midsection wobble? Now here we are, two months later and it seems the only thing that’s changed is the weather. But really, is the middle of winter any time to be making resolutions? Of course not. That’s what Spring’s for.

Get out of this world with a trip to the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando Florida. Gawk at and learn about NASA space missions, take a virtual flight to the moon, and if you book early enough, you can even have dinner with an astronaut. Return to The Fountains Orlando, for 54 acres of fun including a 6000-square-foot pool, massive clubhouse and a nearby lake for paddle boating and fishing.

Forget sweating it out at the gym, burn off some calories on a movie sites walking tour of Central Park. Have what Meg Ryan was having at The Boathouse Café from When Harry Met Sally, and zap some ghoolies Bll Murray style at the Tavern on the Green from Ghostbusters. These are just a couple of the 40 sites you’ll visit on the tour. Sure to wear you out enough to sleep soundly at the perfectly located Park Central Hotel.

Looking to try something new, wild and exciting in 2009? How about freefalling from a plane over Las Vegas or a tandem skydive at 120mph? If you manage to keep your eyes open you’ll see the desert plains of Nevada and  famous Las Vegas strip below. After a graceful parachute glide down to earth, reward yourself with a cocktail by the seven acre tropical pool back at the Tropicana Resort and Casino.

Winter time + exercise and fitness just don’t seem to add up. Unless of course you pop across to Hawaii for a guided hiking adventure. With hiking equipment supplied, your small group will take a moderate pace around the Koolau mountains to rainforests and tranquil pools. Continue the water theme back at the Marine Surf Waikiki Hotel, just steps away from the famous Waikiki Beach.

Or get back to nature by ziplining over whitewater on a Bear Tour or Eagle Tour near Whistler, Canada. You’ll be soaring above a wild bunch of locals including deer, bears, lynx and squirrels. It won’t be easy getting grounded again at the stunning Four Seasons Whistler, which has mountainside dining and access to the slopes for the site of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
