Russell from Darwin is planning on heading to Melbourne to watch the Essendon Bombers play in the AFL, but wants to know if there are any hotels within walking distance from the football ground.

Russell, AFL games in Melbourne are played at either the  MCG or Etihad Stadium.  The MCG is situated on the outskirts of the Melbourne CBD and close to the East Melbourne  hotels.  Alternately, you could walk or catch a tram from most CBD hotels to the MCG.  Etihad Stadium is located in the Docklands precinct of the Melbourne CBD and is easily accessible from most hotels via a short walk or tram ride.
