Each year the cash registers ring along the shopping strips and malls of Singapore to the tune of The Great Singapore Sale. This year marks the 17th anniversary of madness with the sale season running from 27th May until 24th July 2011.
You can pick up a copy of the Great Singapore Sale Tourist Brochure at any of the Singapore Visitors Centres, major hotels and attractions in Singapore. Inside is a Tourist Privelege Card which you present with your passport at many outlets for further discounts.
Most stores in Singapore are open every day from 10am to 9pm. Many stores are open late on the weekends during the Sale. Fixed prices and price-tagging are the rule at most department stores and retail outlets. You can still bargain at the street stalls and markets for cash only purchases.
